Raksha Bandhan
Literally “bond of protection.” On this day, sisters tie a string around their brother’s wrist, pledging protection from harm, especially in matters of spirit. The brothers, in return, pledge to ensure their sisters’ physical comfort and well-being.

Aug 31

Janmashtami/Guruji’s Mahasamadhi Anniversary
On this most auspicious day, disciples are asked to get together in groups to do practices (all-night chanting is ideal). If that is not possible, please do extra practices on your own, holding God and Dhyanyogiji in your heart and mind. (Please note: the Mahasamadhi Retreat will be held Friday, September 3 – Sunday, September 6, in Antioch, CA.)

* The traditional Indian fast means avoiding grains and beans, but one may eat root vegetables, spinach, dairy products, fruits, and nuts.
