“On the full moon, it is said that there are 16 types of energies radiated through the moon. These 16 energies are concentrated through the 16 petals of the vishuddha chakra of the teacher, and these are transferred to the disciples. The different energies have different names. They are said to hold the subtle aspects of divine nectar for the upliftment of mankind. So, on this specific day of Guru Purnima, the 16 colors or energies of the moon are radiating in full force. And through the vishuddha chakra of the Guru, they are again intensified and poured forth for disciples with love, faith, and devotion.”  — Shri Anandi Ma

This is the actual full moon day, and it is one of the most important days for the disciple to be in the physical presence of the Guru. Practices done on this day will bring growth and auspiciousness in the life of the disciple.

Literally, “bond of protection.” On this day, sisters tie a string around their brother’s wrist, pledging protection from harm, especially in matters of spirit. The brothers, in turn, pledge to ensure their sisters’ physical comfort and well-being.

Janmashtami / Guruji’s Mahasamadhi Anniversary
On this most auspicious day, disciples who are unable to attend the Mahasamadhi Retreat are asked to get together in groups to do practices (all-night chanting is ideal). If that is not possible, please do extra practices on your own, holding God and Dhyanyogiji in your heart and mind.
